Cathay General Hospital was established in 1977 by Cathay Life Insurance Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of the Lin-Yuan Group. Other branches in the Cathay Healthcare Network include the Sijhih Branch, Hsinchu Branch and the Cathay Neihu Clinic.
This 801 bed regional medical center has an International Medical Affairs Department specializing in Cardiology treatments for acute coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, valvular heart disease, preventive cardiology, cardiomyopathy and peripheral vessel disease. It has a well equipped intensive care unit and laboratories for echocardiography, nuclear medicine and cardiac electrophysiology. It also specializes in Orthopedics and performs excellent hip and knee surgeries at affordable costs.
At Cathay General, a heart bypass procedure costs approximately $18,000 USD, an angioplasty costs $12,000 USD, a hip replacement $9,000 USD and a knee replacement is $10,000 USD. Health examination packages start at $275 USD for a half day. For a full day, the cost is $750 USD for men and $820 USD for women. (All above prices are approximate costs for 2011)

The Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH) was established in 1976 by the Formosa Plastics Group Chairman Yung-Ching Wang and its President Yung-Tsai Wang in memory of their father Mr. Chang Gung Wang. This regional hospital system is one of the largest and most technologically advanced in Taiwan. It has 2 Medical Centers: one in Linkou and another in Kaohsiung. There are also hospitals and clinics in Taipei, Keelung and Chiayi.
Taipei Chang Gung Memorial has a large out-patient clinic and about 300 beds. The Keelung Hospital has 1,165 beds including 63 ICU beds and an out-patient clinic. Its Kaohsiung branch has 2,754 beds and the branch in Chiayi has a total of 1,350 beds. The Taoyuan branch has 693 beds and specializes in plastic, cosmetic, and craniofacial surgeries and rehabilitation.
The Linkou Medical Center has over 3,200 beds. It also has a 530 bed Children's Hospital and a pediatric emergency department. For international patients, the Linkou branch launched its International Service Center in 2007. It specializes in areas such as craniofacial surgery, reconstructive micro-surgery, joint-replacement, liver problems, stem cell transplantation, genetic testing, voice disorders, dental implants and cardiovascular tests, treatments and surgery. It has an international coordinator to help patients with their inquiries, to make their doctors' appointments, to arrange translations, to assist with documents required for insurance reimbursement, follow-up care, hospital payment, and discharge.
The Linkou Medical Center is known for its plastic surgery department, organ transplantation, its burn unit and emergency department. Its Specialty Centers and Institutes include: a Cancer Center, Cosmetic Center, Genomic Medicine Research Core Laboratory, Perinatal Medicine Unit, Liver Transplant Center, and Reproductive Center, and Voice Beauty Center. In 1998, the hospital created a "Chinese and Western Joint Medical Service." The program caters to patients with arthritis, cervical cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer and diabetes. This program is offered at the Taipei and Taoyuan branches.
Chang Gung's world famous Craniofacial Center has performed over 30,000 craniofacial operations since 1976.
To help patients with infertility and reproductive disorders, the hospital established the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Center. This Center provides reproductive techniques including artificial insemination, blastocyst transfer and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis and infertility counseling.
Hospital has performed hundreds of both deceased donor and living donor liver transplants. Liver transplants are performed at the Linkou and Kaohsiung branches. A liver transplant surgery costs approximately $70,000 USD to $100,000 USD and can be performed without a long wait.

This hospital was established over 40 years ago as a Rehabilitation Medical Center. It is now an 800 bed hospital with state-of-the-art medical equipment. Cheng Hsin Hospital has an excellent reputation for performing highly-skilled and successful knee and hip-replacements.
Its Beauty Center offers laser treatment, acid peeling, ultrasonic liposuction, endoscopic facelifts, fat injections, and breast reconstruction. It employs technologies such as ruby laser, erbium YAG laser, pulsed light, iontophoresis machines, and ultrasonic wave machines to treat conditions as wrinkles, aging spots and nail diseases.
It has performed over 28,000 cardiac catheterization procedures with almost a 100% success rate and a very short post-op recovery period. Hospital has a heart transplantation center.

This non-profit organization was established in 1989 to provide cancer patients with world-class state of the art compassionate healthcare. The hospital is affiliated with Duke University Medical Center. Its emphasis is on cancer treatments, however, it also has an excellent general medicine section. Most of its medical staff have been trained in the U.S. and a large percentage have also practiced medicine there.
The Center deals with many kinds of cancer treatment including breast, nasopharyngeal, head and neck, lung and esophagus, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, colorectal, central nervous system, sarcoma, soft tissue, melanoma, leukemia and lymphoma, and bone marrow transplantation.
The hospital has a clinic for international visitors called the Health Promotion Program (HPP) adjacent to the Koo Sun-Yat-Sen Cancer Center. This modern clinic has beautifully furnished waiting areas and comfortable private examination rooms. This clinic offers physical exams, general medical consultations, pediatrics, endocrinology, gynecology, general surgery, ear, nose and throat (ENT), dermatology, urology, and cancer treatment. It has established an outstanding reputation for its mammograms and OB/GYN care.

Mackay Memorial Hospital, established in 1880, is one of the oldest operating medical centers in Taiwan. In addition to its main hospital in Taipei, it has two branch hospitals—one in Taitung, the other in Danshui (Tamsui). In 2008, it established its International Medical Service Center which specializes in Reproductive Medicine including sperm analysis, artificial insemination, and in vitro fertilization; Orthopedics including joint reconstruction; Cardiovascular Exams and Surgery including open heart; Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Treatments including laser and glycolic peeling; Congenital Diseases Treatments and Health Examinations.
Some of the medical procedures which are routinely performed at Mackay include: cardiac catheterization, endoscopy, electroencephalography, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, MRI scanning, heart-lung bypass, pulmonary function testing, echocardiography, audiometry, and amniocentesis.

Located near the Presidential Office Building, National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) is a 2,000 bed tertiary care and comprehensive care hospital. It is staffed by over 1,200 faculty members of its School of Medicine. It has an additional clinical staff of approximately 4,000. Included in its 2,000 beds, is a 45-bed psychiatric ward, a 57-bed rehabilitation facility, and a 165-bed intensive care unit.
The National Taiwan University Hospital established its International Medical Service Center in 2006. Treatments available to international patients include hepatitis, cancer, organ transplant, cardiac catherization and open heart surgery, minimally invasive surgery, assisted reproduction, cosmetic surgery, joint replacement and anti-aging medicine. Chinese, English and Japanese language services are available.
NTUH has devoted considerable effort to the research and medical care of liver disease. Chronic hepatitis B and C, and HBV or HCV - related cirrhosis and hepato-cellular carcinoma are treated here by a wide range of cutting edge treatment modalities. The current standard of care worldwide for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C is a combination of pegylated interferon plus ribavirin. The concept of combination therapy was originally invented by a team at this hospital. Liver transplantation is also available at NTUH.
The Division of Cardiology (part of the Department of Internal Medicine) is well-known for providing state-of-the-art diagnosis and medical treatment for all kinds of cardiovascular diseases. Presently, there are two coronary care units with a capacity of 18 beds and approximately 40 cardiologists working in this division.
NTUH provides both non-invasive and invasive diagnostic and treatment modalities for cardiac conditions. The non-invasive procedures include resting ECG, Holter recording, Signal Average ECG, ambulatory blood pressure recording, exercise testing, echocardiography, nuclear cardiac imaging, CT, MRI and positron emission tomography. Invasive modalities for vascular and structural heart diseases include diagnostic cardiac catheterization, carotid and peripheral intervention, intravascular ultrasound and balloon valvuloplasty. Invasive modalities for cardiac arrhythmias include electrophysiological study, radio frequency ablation for arrhythmias, and pacemaker implantation including biventricular pacemaker and intracardiac cardioverter defibrillator. Valve replacement, coronary bypass surgery and heart transplantation are all performed by NTUH's experienced cardiac surgeons. Rotablation and stent procedures are performed daily.
NTUH has a 3T MRI machine and a 64-Slice MDCT which provides ultra fine imaging of cardiac anatomy, myocardial disorders and coronary artery, vein and bypass-graft lesions. The Assisted Reproductive Center of National Taiwan University Hospital has an excellent reputation for treating infertility. NTUH provides intrauterine insemination, in-vitro fertilization, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, blastocyst transfer, laser assisted hatching, cryo-preservation of oocytes and embryos, oocyte donation, and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis.
With over 20 years experience in the field of Assisted Reproduction, this internationally well-respected Center has treated over 7,000 patients with an exceptionally high success rate. The Center provides services in Chinese, English and Japanese.
Its Department of Dermatology has an excellent team of aesthetic and cosmetic practitioners. Some of the services include:
1. Lasers and intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy: For various skin conditions including pigment spots, nevus, aging skin, fine wrinkles and rosacea.
2. Injection of botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid: For the treatment of forehead lines and lines around the eyes and nose areas.
3. Chemical peeling and vitamin C inotophoresis: For aging skin, fine wrinkles and pigmentations.

NTUH's lung transplant team has been performing lung transplants in humans since 1995. For the past 15 years NTUH has performed more than half of the lung transplant surgeries in Taiwan. NTUH's lung transplant surgery success rate has been 93% for the last 4 years. One of its patients has survived more than 14 years after the lung transplant. This patient is the longest lung transplant survivor in Asia.
In 1996, the first artificial heart transplant surgery in Asia was performed here. In 1998, it performed the first successful cardiac cryosurgery in the world. In 2008, it carried out the first successful heart transplantation with the recipient under Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) for 16 days without a heart. It was the first hospital in the world to use stem cells for corneal transplantation in 2001. In 2005, the first successful positive cross-match living donor kidney transplantation in Asia was done here.
In 2009, National Taiwan University Hospital received recognition from the Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation. It received accreditation in 2010, from the Joint Commission International (JCI), which ensures that hospitals meet international quality healthcare standards.
Its new Tai Cheng Stem Cell Therapy Centre financed by donations from the philanthropic businessman Terry Gou began admitting patients in March 2011. The Centre has 14 cell transplant wards and has built up a data bank incorporating information on over 1200 stem cell tranplants done at NTUH over the past 26 years.

Nobel Beauty Service offers aesthetic and cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures and ophthalmic surgery at the Merrier Clinic in Taipei. The clinic has branches in Zhongxiao, Neihu and Taipei. Opened in 2002, the beauty clinic is an extension of the Nobel Medical Group.

This hospital uses advanced software and hardware to automate patient care. There are 15 operating rooms which can provide microscopy, 3D digitizers, ultrasonic scalpels, various endoscopic systems and a PACS imaging system. Software is used to automate information for surgery and medical care. Radiology has been film-less since 2001 and clinical diagnostic data can be obtained via PDAs. Shin Kong Hospital has a digital imaging transmission system available throughout the hospital covering radiology, nuclear medicine, endoscopy and ultrasonic imaging.
Its cardiology department has performed pioneering work in PTCA therapy for coronary heart disease and aortic stenosis both in Taiwan and internationally. The department also provides catheter surgery for acute myocardial infarctions and related diseases.

Department of Nephrology
The department of nephrology has fully equipped dialysis rooms and has done pioneering work in this field.
The neurosurgery department is now treating Parkinson's disease, cancer pain and difficult cranium surgeries with the help of 3D digitizers.
The radiology department is equipped with the latest multi-image CT scanner. TMUH specializes in Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, Breast Surgery, Oncology, Medical Aesthetics, Dental, Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Infertility treatments, Neurology, Obesity Surgery (including laparscopic bariatric surgery), Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedic Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Colorectal Surgery and Urology. It has Centers for Assisted Reproductive Therapy, Dental Cosmetics, Dialysis, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Wan Fang Hospital is an academic medical center with 758 beds and 320 physicians and surgeons. Since 1997, the hospital has been operating as Taipei's first publicly owned but privately operated hospital.
Wan Fang Hospital specializes in Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Infertility Treatments, Radiology, Dentistry, Laser Cosmetic Surgery and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its Laser Cosmetic Center handles about 5,000 cases annually and offers a wide range of dermatological treatments including Botox injections, microinvasive surgery for osmidtosis (secretion of bad smelling sweat) and more. Its Cardiovascular Treatments include cardiac catheterization, stenting (about 800 cases annually) and joint replacement (more than 180 cases per year.)
About 8,000 international patients receive treatment at Wan Fang Hospital each year. Many of these patients come for comprehensive and customized health examinations. Other specialty facilities include a Cyberknife Radio Surgery Center, Infertility Clinic and Cancer Treatment Center. The hospital uses specialized equipment such as 128 slice volumetric computed tomography (VCT) for heart, virtual colonoscopy and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for high-resolution vasculography.

Taiwan City Hospital is a full service, total-care medical institution serving Taipei’s almost 3 million residents. As a result of the merger of 10 municipal hospitals into one unit, Taipei City Hospital is the largest healthcare organization in Northern Taiwan.
Seven branches of Taipei City Hospital (Zhongxing, Renai, Heping, Zhongxiao, Yangming, Linsen Chinese Medicine Branch, and Chinese Medicine Clinic Center) have introduced mini massage stations which are accessible to patients while they are waiting for treatments. Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) is a government hospital and a national medical center and teaching hospital. Its Departments include Nuclear Medicine, Dermatology, Otolaryngology, Pediatrics, Pathology, Physical Rehabilitation, Neurology, Dentistry, Cancer Center, Respiratory Therapy, Orthopedics and Ophthalmology. It has Centers for Chinese Traditional Medicine and Bone Marrow Transplantation.
Its Emergency Room has a trauma team available 24-hrs. The hospital is well-known for the treatment of infectious diseases. For patients dying of cancer, it established the Ta-Teh Ward, a 16-bed hospice and Palliative Care Unit.
TVGH has an International Medical Service Center (IMSC), which offers a registration hotline for international patients and assists them in setting up appointments to see doctors. It cooperates with the TVGH Healthcare Center and Medical Cosmetic Surgery Center.

Far Eastern Memorial Hospital (FEMH) was established by Mr. Y.Z. Hsu, the founder of the Far Eastern Group, in 1981.
The hospital has 44 Departments including Cardiovascular, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Pediatrics and Ophthalmology. Also it has Departments for Tissue Pathology, Medical Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Diet and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Its advanced medical equipment includes dual source computed tomography and flex scanner. It has a new refractive eye surgery machine which eliminates the need to wear glasses. Its Cosmetic Surgery services include blepharoplasty (eyelids), rhinoplasty (nose), facelift, dermabrasion, abdominoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation, as well as other services.
The hospital’s Division of Infertility and Endocrinology has purchased the latest equipment including an embryo slow freezing machine, an intracytoplasmic sperm injection machine and a laser assisted hatching machine. Opened in 2008, Taipei Medical University Shuang Ho Hospital will soon have a total of 1580 beds and is the first certified green hospital building in New Taipei City. Taipei Medical University Hospital, originally established in 1960, is comprised of three affiliated hospitals: the other two are Taipei Medical University Hospital and Taipei Medical University Wan Fang Hospital. These three form a network and strongly support each other.
Shuang Ho Hospital specializes in total hip and knee replacement, aesthetic laser, comprehensive health testing, surgery and dialysis. Its Specialty Centers include a Dialysis Center, Health Management Center, Aesthetic Laser Center, Dental Care Center, Ophthalmology and Visual Science Center, Cancer Day Care Center, Cardiovascular Center and Rehabilitation Center.
The hospital has an International Service Center to provide medical care and health examinations using the latest diagnostic tools, for its international clients. It received accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI) in 2009. Taiwan Landseed Hospital, established in 1995, is a 750-bed regional teaching hospital. Included in its 750 beds are 60 nursing home beds. Its specialty centers include Cardiovascular, Orthopedics, Cosmetics, and its Noble Health Center.
Some of the procedures provided by its Cardiovascular Center include percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, stenting, implantation of pacemakers, and cardiac electrophysiology. Diagnostic tests include echocardiography, treadmill exercise test, peripheral vascular resistance and sonography for examining peripheral vessels.
Its Orthopedics Center specializes in ligament reconstruction and hip and knee replacements. Treatments offered at its Cosmetic Center include facial, eyelid and breast surgeries, body contouring, scar revision and reconstruction, osmidrosis, injectable anti-aging/anti-wrinkle treatments, derma fillers, intense pulsed light, laser treatments, eyebrow tattoo removal, skin resurfacing for wrinkles or acne and other skin care treatments. Min-Sheng General Hospital, located near the International Airport in Taoyuan City, was founded by Dr. Yang Min-Sheng in 1975. This 600 bed hospital specializes in minimally invasive, bariatric (including lapband, gastrectomy, gastric bypass and gastric balloon), cardiovascular, lasik, urologic, orthopedic, and liposuction surgeries. It excels in joint reconstruction and spinal scoliosis as well as other orthopedic surgeries.
Min-Sheng's other specialties and diagnostic technologies include: nephrology, assisted reproductive technologies, digital imaging and digitally-guided surgery, dialysis, oncology, 3D stereotatic-scanning, sleep medicine, and 64-slice computed tomography scanning among other things. It was one of the first hospitals in Asia to set up a center for endoscopic procedures.
Its Lasik Eye Center uses the most advanced IR Lasik equipment and their doctors have performed more than 5,000 successful procedures. Its Cosmetic Center provides a wide range of plastic and cosmetic procedures (invasive as well as non-invasive ones).
